JLPT Listening Expressions You Should Not Miss

In JLPT listening, you do not need to understand every word equally. What matters most is catching the expressions that signal a request, confirmation, schedule change, refusal, condition, or conclusion. These phrases often lead directly to the correct answer.

For requests, listen for expressions such as ていただけませんか, てもらえますか, and お願いできますか. The key is to identify who needs to do what.

For confirmation, expressions such as ということですね, でよろしいですか, and もう一度確認します often appear. Important details may be restated in a clearer form.

For schedule changes, listen for 変更します, 早まりました, 延期になりました, and 中止になりました. In answer choices, the old information is often used as a trap.

Refusals are not always direct. A speaker may say ちょっと難しいです or 今回は見送ります instead of saying できません. You need to hear the function of the phrase, not just the literal meaning.

In listening practice, focus first on the role of each phrase. Is it a request, a confirmation, a change, a refusal, or a conclusion?
